We recommend two classes per week, plus a certain amount of practice time in between each class. This allows the student time to work on
material and become proficient before new techniques are introduced. Q: Will there be other beginners in my class?
A:
At the East Coast Karate Academy, all students are grouped by age and skill level.
Q: Will the East Coast Karate Academy program make my child overly aggressive?
A: At the East Coast
Karate Academy, children are taught that martial arts is not to be used in aggression, but rather to defend oneself in problematic situations. Aggressive behavior is channeled into assertiveness to increase the child's
self-esteem, increase self-discipline and build character. Our program also helps the shy child to develop self-confidence and become more assertive.
Q: Will my class be safe?
A:
Absolutely. All classes taught at the East Coast Karate Academy are strictly monitored to ensure complete safety.
Q: What about sparring?
A: All students interested in sparring
(sport karate) are required to wear the best protective equipment available and classes are strictly supervised. All equipment and supplies are available at our Academy.
Q: How long will it take me to become proficient?
A: The time it takes to become proficient varies with each individual depending on the effort they put forth. At the East Coast Karate Academy,
students are amazed by their own ability and accomplishment in as little time as six months. This training will give you the confidence of knowing that you can defend yourself in most situations. Your real goal,
however, should be to attain the rank of black belt
